This is a rare copy of Addison's Knights Templar, the Complete History of Masonic Knighthood from the origin of the order to the present time (1875.) Adapted to the American System by Robert Macoy, 33rd degree, Grand Recorder of the Grand Commandry of New York; Representative of the Grand Commandries of Tennessee, California and Texas. Published in New York by William T. Anderson, Masonic Publishing Company, 1875, 640 pages. Addison's first edition was published in 1842. This edition, published 33 years later, has quotations in French and Latin translated directly into English and also exhibits the strong connections between Freemasonry and the Land of Solomon, Zerubbable and Godfrey. It also sets out to demonstrate the relationships between Freemasonry and Military Orders of Knighthood. Book is old and well used; thick leather covered back is intact and the embossing are readable. Leather is missing from the spine of the book. Front hinge is cracked but front and back covers are intact and still attached. Pages are in good condition, none missing or torn.
