You are bidding on a beautiful original watercolor on heavy paper by the well listed female Dutch painter Adrienne Jacqueline van Hogendorps-Jacob (1857 - 1920). It measures approx. 23 by 32 inches with the matting. The watercolor alone measures approx. 16 by 25 1/2 inches. I do guarantee this to be an original watercolor by this artist and not any type of reproduction. it is signed in the lower right (See close up photo). The work is very typical of the artist who was famous for her oils and watercolors of flowers. The painting shows a deft hand and a wonderful use of color. T are some gouache highlights that make the flowers stand out beautifully.

I found quite a few examples of the artist's work on the internet and this piece is definitely very typical of her best pieces. She has auction records that go into the many thousands of dollars and her work is represented in many museums.

CONDITION:The watercolor is unframed but is attached to a large mat with tape from the back. The work is basically in very good condition with no stains and no tears, and no repairs. Someone has painted the matting white at some time and t is a tiny bit of the white paint by the edge of the mat. T is also a few small specks of white paint on the grapes. All this is very minor though and the white paint on the edges could easily be matted out so it does not show when framed.

I found this piece recently at a local estate sale w the previous owner said it had hung over his mothers bed for many years and was her favorite work of art. This is a very important piece for many reasons. Works by women artist are collected more and more and are very sought after. This is definitely an outstanding example of the artist best work and fresh to the art market.
