Part of the famous Rotograph Cat Series, this photograph shows âeoeRagsâe , in his miniature cat bed. It is titled, âeoeGOOD NIGHTâe No. B1532.
This series was photographed by Harry Frees who began his career as a photographer at the turn of the century. At that time, picture postcards were a new concept and were gaining in popularity. His animal photographs were perfect for this new medium and they decorated the pages of calendars as well. He was hired by The Rotograph Company of New York to photograph animals for their postcards.
The most popular model was his own cat Rags.
Photo is in very good condition with no bends, tears, or creases
Back is postmarked Watsonville, Cal. May 26, 1907 with just a penciled address, no copy.
Photo is very sharp and has strong tones with great contrast and clarity.
