AESOP'S FABLES with OVER 100 Illustrations c1917 A SCARCE GARDNER EDITION Description AESOP'S FABLES. A New Edition. With Proverbs & Applications With over ONE HUNDRED Illustrations. Published by Alexander Gardner (Publishers by appointment to the late Queen Victoria,) undated but previous owners inscription dated 1917. In the original Gardner red cloth binding with gilt lettering and device Containing one hundred and ten fables following the text of Croxall. This book of fables is an extremely scarce publication by Alexander Gardner 230 pages plus a 1 page list of publishers books in the (prize series) Condition : The spine and boards are faded and grubby, spine ends and board corners rubbed, outer page edges are dusty, top inner hinge split, end papers age tanned with some spotting and two previous owners inscription dated 1917 and 1928 on the first free end paper, title page and a few pages have light marginal handling marks, the gatherings between pages 48 and 49 are stretching, all pages present and in good condition. A scarce publication which is complete and would be well worth restoring. Size20x15cm
