MELBOURNE 8 sided cake plate by Challinor and Mayer. This cake plate has an aesthetic pattern on the brim of the plate along with small dots and flowers. T is an embossed pattern on one side of the brim and also on the opposite side. It didn't show up at all because the transfer covers it. The transfer is medium brown and very crisp. T is no crazing in the glaze. T are no cracks or repairs. It is 10 3/4" from point to point and is 3/4" tall I think the 8 sided plate is unusual.Found last summer at a Maine Estate sale. It has the same aesthetic look pictured on p. 181 of Jean Wetherbee's A Second Look at White Ironstone.
