Up for auction is a mixed Victorian, silverplate service for four featuring Aesthetic and Art Noveau patterns. The melding of geometric and floral motifs seen in the aesthetic pieces stem from the Victorians fascination with the Near East. The Art Noveau (1880-1910) pieces are typified by free flowing floral designs. Mythical figural patterns (i.e. Siren) were also quite popular. Each place setting consists of a teaspoon, dinner fork, oval soup spoon, and blunt bladed hollow handled dinner knife (for the most part, Victorian patterns did not have matching knives- when they did, they were often the flat, solid handled type). I love elaborately detailed pieces, so I have put together a collection of Art Noveau knives from the early 1900's that complement the other Victorian pieces. As you probably know, silverware can be very challenging to photograph. Dark or shaded areas in the photos are due to reflection. All the pieces are in exceptional condition. The knife blades are true and without wear. I will issue a full refund (less shipping & handling) if you are not 100% pleased with your silver service. Shipping will be via priority mail; insurance is required. Over the next two months, I plan to offer more Victorian mixed services for those of you wishing to add to your collection. I hope you enjoy the fine craftsmanship of our Victorian forefathers as much as I do. Happy Bidding! Teaspoons: Eudora- monogram "A" (Towle, 1888). Laurel- monogram "H" (1847 Rogers Bros, 1878).
