The Houston rescue was called upon to take in 3 dogs at the end of August. Apparently, the owner had passed away in early April and the dogs were living in deplorable conditions outside. We now have 3 older Afghan Hounds currently being boarded and treated at the vet hospital. They are all heartworm positive, were matted to the skin, have ear and eye infections and all 3 had maggots in their fur from their living situation. None are strong enough at this time to withstand treatment for the heartworms and the vet bills are mounting. Additionally, all will need to be spayed & neutered prior to being placed in a new forever home. We expect their final bill to be approximately $3000 and we are short of funds.

The deceased person's estate has generously donated his vast collection of art, trophies, photos and memorabilia in order to help us meet the bills of the dogs left behind at his passing. I will be listing statues, sculptures, signed original art, prints, trophies, back issues of the Afghan Hound Review, a signed and numbered Afghan Hound bronze from an internationally known canine artist and much more in the next few days and am asking all of you out on ebay to be generous with your bids. This auction is for an unusual and striking original piece of art sculpture. It was given as a Best of Breed trophy at the SEAKC on 2/15/97. Trophy provided by Robin of Asylum Afghans. Trophy appears to have been reglued to the base, but is in excellent condition. Measures approximately 7" at the tallest and the base is 4" x 7". Please see my other listings for more rescue donations as I am happy to combine multiple wins for reduced shipping. Please note that I am starting many of the auctions at $9.99 to help save on listing fees, so we are relying upon all of you to bid appropriately and help us to help these dogs.
