AFRICA ELEPHANT BRIDGE WOOD CARVING DESCRIPTION: A truly magnificent and one of a kind collectible carving. Intricately hand carved by Marshall Michael Kusena - a renowned carver from Zimbabwe and signed M. Kusena. Superb gallery quality carving, almost impossible to come across nowadays due to the depressed economic situation in Zimbabwe. The carving features a phenomenal Elephant design - six intricately detailed Elephant carved amongst African trees and shrubs in a spectacular bridge design. Carved from one single piece of wood, the tree bark is still evident on the back of the carving. A very heavy and solid piece that will make a unique, magnificent addition to any African collectible collection or trophy room. CARVER'S BIOGRAPHY: Marshall Michael Kusena was born in Salisbury Village, Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) on 27 October, 1956, a member of the Manicaland Tribe. Marshall began weaving basketry from the age of 6 under the tutelage of his uncle. He then developed a love and skill for wood carving at the age of 19 which he began by selling his carvings at the side of the road to passing tourists. His carvings became increasingly popular due to their beauty and intricate detail that he was invited to begin exhibiting his works at various Art Galleries in Buluwayo and Zimbabwe. This carving will in clude a biography of the carver and will be expertly packaged and shipped in a hand made wood crate.Hawaii and Alaska residents please e-mail for a shipping quote. COLOR: Brown .
