This is one of the nicer Moroccan Koumaya and you have a chance to own it. Vintage is probably early to mid 1900s. Most Moroccan jambiya that you will see are poor quality. This one is different. Here's why.... Mostly made of a low grade coin-silver / Nickel-silver, that is the hilt/handle fittings and sheath.....sheath with a small dent on 1 side, and slightly open seem on inside curve. both hardly noticable. FAT Bulbous wood handle is old but very very good condition, some marks but commenserate with wear. not likely pre WWI , but maybe WWII or just after. Blade is much finer than almost any you will see. almost all old ones offered are crap. the new ones offered on ebay are not with a blade anywhere near this well made. The blade has some incised decoration typical of Africa and tribal motif int the fullers at the forte portion of the blade. The double fullers on both sides continue into the hilt. Blade is sharp and has alittle pitting in the point area from rust a while back. The blade has some staining that make it appear tobe a laminated blade. Koumaya of this quality are very seldom offered.......better ones like # 350456280810 ($1695) or # 150467220672 ($19,995) are SUPER RARE i am in the process of building site............should be up in about 1 month. thank you also check item # 220782454089.....$650 this one is very similar, but mine has a much better blade. sorry for the delay......i had problems loading these last pics. Nice, and at anything less than $300, a steal. you'll not see them like this for this price!!!!
