This beautiful hand carved ceremonial mask is from the Ivory Coast State in Africa and is in good condition. I don't know what kind of wood was used, but it is a semi-hard wood and is stained black on the artistically carved face. The eyes are carved through to the back side for seeing through and two small holes were drilled at the sides for strapping to hold the mask on the head of the dancer. The overall length is 18" and 6" wide by 3-1/2" deep.
