They will dazzle and delight egg lovers everyw! About the Artist: Sherry Rowe - Decoupage Ostrich Egg Artist Sherry Rowe has made a name for herself in the field of decoupage. Apart from creating outstanding, award-winning works, she has taught this craft to many enthusiastic pupils. With all this valuable experience, Sherry started producing decoupage on a large commercial scale. She has been manufacturing and supplying eggs and decoupage products all over the world for more than 20 years. Infertile ostrich eggs are brought from around South Africa and transformed into high-quality decorations by a team of highly-skilled workers. Details of pictures are carefully cut out and then Sherry designs each egg. The pictures are attached to the egg, after which up to 50 coats of varnish are applied. The eggs are then sanded to level the finish and a final coating of clear lacquer is applied in the spray booth. The eggs are then mounted on an assortment of different stands and sent all over the world. What makes the eggs so special, aside from the wonderful finish, is the fact that the pictures on the eggs are drawn by various South African artists and by Sherry herself. The designs and colors change often to keep up with the trends and add more variety to the range of over 1000 different designs. What started as a hobby developed into a teaching theme and is now the subject of a thriving industry, which, under Sherry's watchful and expert eye, creates fascinating products. Each egg is packaged in an individual box. Sherry signs various eggs with a gold pen. Not all eggs are signed, but all are designed by her. The Ostrich egg is very edible, but boy is it big. One Ostrich egg is equivalent to twenty-four chicken eggs. It only takes only one to really fill up a frying pan. An Ostrich Egg is very large, approximately 5-6 inches in diameter and 6-7 inches tall. Unlike a chicken egg, an Ostrich egg is really strong. The shell is about 1/8th inch thick. Although made of Calcium, they feel like fine ceramic. Very popular for crafts, the thick shell permits engraving and the smooth surface is great for painting. These ostrich eggs are empty. A small hole was drilled in the bottom and the yolk and white were removed. They have been thoroughly cleaned, inside and outside, according to Fish & Wildlife requirements.
