after Guido Reni, (19th c.,), Saint Cecilia, 19th century Italian School copy after Guido Reni's masterpiece currently in the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, CA, Reni was one of the most sought after Bolognese painters of the 17th century, this painting depicts Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, who could play any and all instruments and could even hear the songs of angels; presented in a very ornate 19th century Rococo Revival swept frame with pierced cartouche and two inset spandrels with applied floral and foliate scroll on a stippled ground - SS 35.5"h x 25.5"w DOA 51"h x 41"w - Relined and waxed, some minor loss to frame corners as expected (does not detract from presentation)
