AIDA Express 1500 Record 500 cp RARE GASOLINE LANTERN ! This is a very rare and unique Aida lantern as it actually was set up and sold to be used, not with kerosene, but with gasoline only and was labeled as such by the factory. In fact, the label still affixed to the lantern plainly states "Gasoline Lantern" - "Use only Gasoline". The lantern is exactly as shown and all the parts are original. I, myself, purchased it new from an old hardware store in Cocoa, Florida, sometime during the latter part of 1971, and used it for a number of years with white Coleman gasoline while shrimping and camping with my growing family. The bottom of the lantern is stamped "2402" which indicates the year and date of manufacture. The glass is regrettably now cracked but is still intact and can still be purchased, I am told. The lantern experienced less and less use until I stopped using it but it still functioned perfectly when I stored it away. I suspect it requires some maintenance now since it has been stored for so many years. I wish I had known when I purchased it that it was a rarity, otherwise I would not have used it at all. It comes with the same instruction sheet and spare parts with envelope that came with the lantern, as well as two unused silk mantles dating from that period.
