Air Scout BSA 1942 Shirt and Manual Short-lived division of the Boy Scouts of America, folded into Explorers in the early 1950s, I think. Most of the units were organized on military bases and many of the boys, including the owner of this shirt and manual, went on to careers in commercial and military aviation. 1) The Shirt is in FAIR condition. The only patch remaining is the "Air Scouts B.S.A." strip above the right pocket. T is no unit patch ghosting on the upper sleeves, although t are two tiny red threads on the upper left sleeve which might be a vestige of a long-gone numeral patch. At the bottom left, at about the beltline, is a light brown stain about the size of a silver dollar, also visible on the back. The right pocket has an obvious flaw on the sleeve-side seam - as hole about an inch long. T is also a serious shamrock- or propeller-shaped hole on the right sleeve - probably w a patch was affixed and brutally removed. The buttons on the front are cheap plastic replacements. T are no buttons for the sleeves or pockets. I was able to find eight (8) Air Scout blue buttons with proper shanks which are included, but they are not original to this shirt. You're still going to be short two buttons, as a total of ten are required (six for the front, two for the pockets, and two for the sleeves). The cloth is in fine shape, and read more
