This Is A Real Al Mar Knife !!! Not One Of The Japanese Knockoffs That Have Been Saturating eBay Lately..... Al Mar Model 4006 Pre-Production #PP 005/200 Note: The Trophy Award Plaque is not for sale. It is was awarded to the late Larry Martin in 1983 for the Most Outstanding Display of Al Mar Knives at the Oregon Knife Collectors Association (OKCA) Show. This Auction is for the Knife only and DOES NOT include the Award Plaque. Original Vintage Pre-Production Al Mar Model 4006. This great, hard to find Al Mar Tanken Scout Knife, Model 4006 features a Black Zytel handle, Brass guard and a 5 5/8" Blade. Measures 10" overall. One side of the blade is stamped with Al Mar and the traditional red Al Mar Chop along with the tang stamp Seki-Japan. The other side is stamped with the Pre-Production serial numbers #PP 005/200. Comes with the Genuine black leather sheath stamped with 4007/4006 on the back below the Al Mar Chop. Larry Martin had a good relationship with Al Mar and was able to acquire many beautiful prototypes and pre-productions for his own personal collection. He began collecting Al Mar knives in the early 1980's and continued until his death in 1992. His collection was one of the best groups of Al Mar's ever assembled on this planet. His favorites being the 005/200. As many collectors know, Al Mar would order 200 pieces of a new pattern from the factory in Seki-Japan that were sent out to the dealers to test the market. If they sold well they went into full production. The very early ones were prefixed with the letters "PP" Pre-Production (later the PP was dropped and only numbers were used).
