This is a fine set of a creamer and open sugar bowl, or for display, a miniature basin and water pitcher, made from Alabama Clay, a very distinct type of pottery that is made of hand-dug clay found along the Coosa River in Alabama, and made by the Stephens family who discovered the unusual nature of this unique clay--its coffee colored swirls that appear during the pottery's firing process. Only pottery made by this family is signed "MAX" or "MRS". The little pitcher measures 4.25"H and 3" across at the widest part of the base. It will hold up to 1/2 cup of liquid, such as cream, milk, and syrup. The small bowl measures 1.5"H and 4.5" across at the top, and will hold 1/3 cup. Both pieces are extremely fine examples of Alabama Clay pottery in perfect condition--no chips, no cracks and no flaws of any kind.
