IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS TYPE OF MATERIAL PLEASE CHECK OUT MY *ME* PAGE A maroon box with a black felt interior with three depressions made to house the Alaska Gold Miner set of small gold in ¼ dwt, ½ dwt and 1 dwt sizes. The box is 2 ¼” by 1 5/8”, intact but with wear on the edges as shown. On the top is the familiar official emblem of the Alaska - Yukon - Pacific Exposition that was held in Seattle in 1909, the expo w these gold tokens were sold. The gilting of the emblem has faded and is now mostly dark gold print that somewhat blends in with the maroon box. This box contains nice high grade specimens of the ¼ dwt and the ½ dwt gold tokens -- the 1 dwt token is not presentThe tokens are as follows: Alaska Gold, 1909, A.Y.P.E. (Miner With Tools Of The Trade) // ½ (or ¼) Dwt (U.S. Shield In Wreath). Gold, the ½ dwt is about 12mm in diameter while the ¼ dwt is about 9mm. Both are the typical color for the Miner tokens. All the small gold tokens have become very popular of late but few are seen with the original packaging. I have not determined the varieties of the two gold miners. ’s a chance to acquire an unusual precious metal souvenir from the AYPE.PLEASE NOTE: I have a hard time getting the true color of gold and gilt items to show in my images. Rather than play games with the images in an attempt to hit the actual color, read more
