Emil MIX and others (photographers) An Album of approximately 117 photos, the majority of scenes, students, staff, events involving St. John's Military School, Manlius, New York State. [No date but circa 1913-19180]. Oblong folio (11 1/4 x 14 1/4 inches), up to six photos per page, photos 4 3/4 x 7 inches and smaller. Condition : album lacking covers; some photos faded, a few with tears or creases but generally excellent. Emil Mix was a musician (he played with the Sousa Band on their 1911 world tour), but also an athlete, and a professional photographer: he seems to have been a staff member at the school although we have been unable to confirm this. The excellent photos include the school band, inspections, football games, ice-hockey and athletics, as well as military inspections and training. Also included is a trip to Mount Vernon and Washington and the White House. Provenance : Emil Mix (by descent, bought recently at an estate sale of a descendant's property in Ct.)
