ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS 1ST EDITION WORKS PUBLISHING NEW YORK CITY 1947 Stated Eleventh Printing, June, 1947. Navy full cloth boards, lt shows some wear, but not too bad for a 66 year old book. Pages very good. Period inscription inside Sept 17,1948 " To Edna & Walter Two mighty fine AAs From your proud sponsor With Love Carolyn & Pete". Very attractive. Rare, fairly good example. Sadly looks like a mouse has chewed about a 2 1/2" spot along back spline as shown. As common with many Big Books there are some notes & places marked & or underlined In 1938, after about 100 alcoholics in Akron and New York had become sober, the fellowship decided to promote its program of recovery through the publication of a book, for which Bill Wilson (Bill W.) was chosen as primary author. The book was given the title Alcoholics Anonymous and included the list of suggested activities for spiritual growth known as the Twelve Steps. The movement itself took on the name of the book. The Big Book has served as a lifeline to millions worldwide. First published in 1939, Alcoholics Anonymous sets forth cornerstone concepts of recovery from alcoholism and tells the stories of men and women who have overcome the disease. 400 pages.
