Alcoholics Anonymous 1st Edition 5th Printing January 1944Works Publishing Company A.A. Publishing, Inc, New York, viii + [1] + 400 + [4] pages. There is a name and address in pencil on the ffep, otherwise there is no writing in the book and there are no torn or missing pages, the binding is tight, all four corners are bumped and rubbed through the cloth, the cover is heavily soiled probably from dampness , the spine edges are rolled, shelf wear at the bottom book edge, the gilt lettering on the spine is rubbed, the text pages are heavily age-toned and the page edges (text block) are dusted. The dust jacket is a brand new reproduction of the original. This was the LAST "Big Book" in terms of size, prior to wartime printing regulations that required smaller books to conserve paper beginning with the 6th printing. There were two colors used for the 5th printing 1944, the first 2,500 copies were light blue and the last 2,500 were navy blue. This is the light blue boards.
