IN THIS AUCTION we are very happy to offer for your consideration a gorgeous vibrant Hand Colored Italian Print from the 1800âe(tm)s of Saint John the Apostle âe" the beloved Apostle. He was a friend of Saint Peter the Apostle and traveled everyw with Jesus. He took part in the Last Supper and was the only one of the Twelve not to forsake Jesus in the hour of His Passion. This important Saint and Apostle is often represented with an Eagle as his role as an Evangelist. And in this Print we find the Eagle seated under the feet of Saint John . Other images that are associated with Saint John can be found in the intricate and colorful oval boarder which surrounds the image. For example, t is a net and a sail indicating his early life as a Fisherman. T is a smaller image, set beneath the oval image of Saint John , showing a radiant Blessed Virgin Mary. The condition of the print is excellent with very slight discoloration and wear along the edges which are outside of the image area.
