The original Alice Cooper was a five man band including Alice Cooper (vocals), Michael Bruce (guitar), Glen Buxton (lead guitar), Neal Smith (drums), and Dennis Dunaway (bass). The original Alice Cooper band released the first seven Alice Cooper albums beginning with "Pretties For You" in 1968 and ending with "Muscle of Love" in 1974. Prior to becoming Alice Cooper the band was known as Nazz with Vince Furnier (Alice), Michael, Glen, Dennis, and then-drummer John Speer. In early 1968 the band moved from their hometown of Phoenix, AZ to the Sunset Strip scene of Los Angeles, CA w they became the house band at the Whiskey-a-go-go, were subsequently discovered by Frank Zappa, and eventually went on to become one of the biggest rock bands of the early 1970's with their outragious stage shows, record concert attendance, and hits like "School's Out" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy", anthyms for a generation. The band broke up in 1974. In October of 1997, Alice Cooper band members Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, and Neal Smith reunited for the first and last time after 23 years to play only one full set at the Area 51 club in Houston, TX. on October 12, 1997.
