Beautiful unmessed with all-original 1864 Light Cavalry Civil War sword made by the famous Ames company. My husband has had thissword in his collection for several years. Three-arm brass hand guard has beautiful aged brass patina, and pommel cap is lightly marked âeoe?Wâe or "?M". Straight blade (beautiful and clean) measures 34 1/2 inches and comes to a blunt point. Still sharp, but no sharpening marks, blade is a wonderful clean silver with nice mixed gray patina unrusted, unpitted, and only two very tiny edge nicks. On the other side, AMES/MFgCOo in the arch stamp with half the Chicopee line still visible. Scabbard has dark brown/black unrusted fairly-even patina with two hangers with rings, throat, and drag and does not have the screw near the throat which is often seen in import scabbards.
