For auction is All Star Comics #2, fall 1940 issue CGC graded restored "Apparent 1.0 Slight (A)", a "Fair". It features: "All brand new episodes of The Spectre, The Green Lantern, The Flash, The Hawkman, Johnny Thunder, The Hour-Man, The Sandman and Red, White & Blue"! This exquisite item belonged to my father when he was a child in 1940. I found it and 4 others in the original envelope from All American Comics; please see photo (envelope not in lot). The restoration includes: small amount of glue on cover and centerfold. The coupon is missing on the 25th page which does not affect the story; it is incomplete. I guess my dad cut out the coupon to order something! The pages are OFF-WHITE and this issue is the beginning of Johnny Thunder and The Green Lantern ! It contains an ad for 1940 New York World's Fair. The stories are by Fox, Finger, Siegel and Wentworth; the art by Nodell, Moldoff, Bailey, Grothkopf, Aschmeier and Hibbard. The bar-coded number assigned by CGC is 0139668002. Since comic book grading by individuals is extremely subjective I went to the authority and had it graded by CGC - Comics Guaranty, LLC. As of the current census dated 12/4/06 t have been 18 of these graded and 16 graded better. Picture 3 is a 300 DPI scan of the comic before I had it certified.
