Nice Old Altec Lansing Hi-Fi home amplifier made in USA. My friend brought his variac over so we slowly brought it up to proper voltage just to make sure there were no nasty events, such as smoke from a bad capacitor, the test was uneventfull seems to work fine, I went to another friends house and picked up a tube mono FM tuner and wired everything to a 16 ohm Altec Speaker, made an antenna for the radio, besides a small amount of crackling from the Altecs volume pot, it truly sounded great, plenty of power, at ten watts going into a 60 watt maximum speaker, I have since cleaned the pot with tuner cleaner without tearing the wood off so no more crackling, though it still needs to be checked out by a competent tube tech before daily use. The front plate has no scratches all words are easily readable with no signs of wear at all, the covering to the sides of the front plate are in good condition, looks like it could be tighter, but personally I would leave it as is. The wood cabinet is a bit loose from side to side so I don't want to remove it, it just has 4 45* mitered corners nothing to stabalize them just glue, it will also need a refinish but will leave that to the buyer if you sahould want to bother, looks kinda neat as it is all original, we will pack it very well double boxed or capsuled inside which ever my wife deems safest, read more
