His work is very much in demand by Hopi families, he carves many dolls for ceremonies. Please see the picture below of Alton when he dropped off some of his work at our home. Alton is one of few Hopi artists that does not use power tools. He uses a pocketknife to carve, then smoothes the doll using assorted stones. This Kachina is carved from one piece of cottonwood. Material: Cottonwood root. Mark: Artist signed. Size: Approximately 5 inches high without the 1/2 inch base. Condition: Super.
