ALVIN SILVER OVERLAY DECANTER, ART NOUVEAU I am pleased to offer at auction a wonderful silver overlay decanter in excellent original condition. This is an 8.5" tall hand blown green glass decanter about 7" in diameter at the base. With the stopper in place it is 9.5" tall. T are no chips or cracks in the glass and the silver is complete with no holes or missing areas. T is one chip on the bottom of the stopper. I believe this was made at the turn of the century by Alvin with heavy silver overlay in an art nouveau grape vine design. The silver work is superior. I believe they used .999 silver in making the silver overlay pieces. It is unmarked. T is a monogram, see photos. The bottom shows wear commensurate with age. T is some minor staining inside at the bottom I have not tried to remove. Pieces very similar to this have sold for over $1000 on ebay. I list the item with a very low starting price and no reserve.
