This is an auction for one Antique STERLING SILVER Repousse Serving Bowl by ALVIN!!!!! This fabulous antique bowl measures approximately 10" round, with the bowl having a slightly scalloped or fluted edge. The bowl is heavily patterned in the Art Nouveau fashion, featuring flowers, stems, leaves.....a gorgeous pattern.
The sterling silver bowl could use a light polishing, but is in excellent condition. It does have a minor dent in the center, but this is small, and measures about 1 - 2 mm. The bowl is rather substantial in your hands, and it weighs 265.8 grams on our own little home jewelry scale. The bowl was slightly hard to photograph for us, but the dark spots you see are from photography, the bowl is in excellent condition with uniform silver throughout. When you flip the bowl over, it has the Alvin mark containing the letter A in the center along with a sword and featd bird?, we think. Alvin was started in Irvington, New Jersey in 1886 and the Alvin factory was moved from Irvington to Sag Harbor, New York in 1895. The Gorham company purchased Alvin's assets, dies, and patterns in 1928. We don't know the pattern name of this beautiful bowl, but on the backside, t is the stamped number 2680. Maybe this bowl would make a nice addition to your sterling silver collection? SHIPPING AND HANDLING: Shipping and handling will be $10.00 for USPS priority mail in a box, unless otherwise directed. We do ship internationally, but international buyers pay exact postage and must utilize PAYPAL only. Insurance is available at auction's end, since we do not know final selling price and cannot quote insurance rates until the final price has been determined. The US postal service charges $1.35 for up to $50.00, and $2.30 for up to $100.00 and so on. We are not responsible for uninsured parcels lost or damaged in shipping. PAYPAL PREFERRED. Checks accepted but will be held up to ten days for clearance. We usually ship the next business day after receipt of Multiple purchases cheerfully combined for savings on shipping charges. Delivery confirmation is also available for .50 cents and if requested, we can add signature confirmation for an additional cost. We are happy to answer questions as soon as we can.
