WOW, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS FANTAsTIC CAST IRON MECHANICAL BANK. Dated 1879 on the base. T is a date of 1875 on the locking device that holds the coins in the base. This piece appears to be original despite the different dates. Guaranteed authentic!!!This particular bank has the sitting black boy with a stick/whip in his hand. The mule is facing the boy. When the release mechanism is triggered, the mule bucks, spins around, and knocks the boy over which drops the coin into the base. Release mechanism works fine. T is a slight catch about half way through the mule's spin. With just a slight touch he will finish spinning. I think this could be easily fixed with a little oil on the spring. As you can see, this piece retains much of the original paint. No repaint whatsoever. Excellent patina. No damage to the cast ron that I can see. All screws and mechanisms appear to be original. This piece has the phrase "Always Did Spise a Mule" on the top. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. I will answer what I can. Please view our excellent feedback. Item will be shipped double boxed. Insurance is included in the shipping cost.
