This meteorite is very rare and one hell of a find at this size. I have seen peices like these go for upwards of $60,000 This is one of our larger and heavier peices its about the size of a soft ball. This meteorite has not been sealed with acrylic but the buyer has the choice to have it sealed by us free of charge. Even with out the acrylic this large peice shines and sparkles nicely and will make a very wonderfull display. This peice has mostly iron and nickle and is heavier then all our other peices. History: Meteorite - Location: Nantan¸ China. we have a meteorite that is partially composed of iron along with some other lighter (less dense) material. This was part of the Nantan meteorite that fell in China in 1516. The meteorite is mostly iron but obviously contains other less dense material (probably 'rock' material). The heterogeneous mixture of iron and other components is readily noticeable from the fact that this meteorite is much lighter in weight than the more common iron/nickel type of meteorite. The meteorite fragments are usually sprayed with a thin acrylic coating in order to protect the meteorite from moisture which would cause rusting.
