This is an absolutely beautiful, mesmerizing, very fragile antique santo / altar / shrine that I purchased about twenty years ago from a man who was over 100 years old, in a tiny village in a remote part of Oaxaca state, Mexico . I do not know which saint is depicted She sits inside a seemingly ancient wooden box. She has faded over the years, but she has brown skin with hand painted features, hair made of golden thread and a dress and adornments in metallic silver with pink and gray cotton. T are flower petals at her feet. The wooden box itself has deteriorated over the years. I've never had it professionally restored or improved at all. The right door is on hinges and closes smoothly. The left door has come off the box and is no longer attached, but the hinges are still attached to the wood, and can be nailed or glued together. I will of course, include the loose door as part of this auction. I have no idea whatsoever how old this is, but I will say it is extremely fragile and should be put in a case or taken care of with great attention. The wooden box itself is not very ornate; the attention or devotion of this amazing shrine is clearly to the santo / santa herself.

I want to be sure all bidders are aware of the fragility of this time, so please make sure you look at the last picture too, which shows the wood at tee bottom of the santo box. It looks to me like once upon a time; someone lit a candle nearby, because t's a bit of what might be a burn mark.

This item comes from a clean environment with no odors, pets or smoke. Please ask questions before bidding, and serious bidders should read below. I WILL NOT SHIP TO ITALY , with apologies. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

About shipping :

I have listed a flat, non-negotiable shipping fee. If you are uncomfortable with that amount, please refrain from bidding . I almost always use USPS First Class Mail within USA ; some packages, especially shoes and other items that are boxed will be shipped parcel post. Insurance is your option and risk if not purchased for shipping. I am happy to combine shipping when reasonable, and will often charge the price of the higher shipping fee plus %50 of the other item's shipping fee(s), but please do not bid with the intent to barter combined fees. I reserve the right to make those determinations myself. PLEASE NOTE: I do not ship on weekends; items won and paid for by Thursday or Friday will probably ship on Monday.

About Payment / Refunds :

PAYMENT: Payment on all auctions must be received within 5 days after auction closes, to the minute. I will always ship within 72 hours of receiving cleared payment unless otherwise negotiated (see above). I reserve the right to relist any item for which the bidder has failed to pay within 5 days, and will post negative feedback to any winner who neither pays nor contacts me to make alternate arrangements if payment according to terms is a problem .

REFUNDS: I go to great lengths to describe my items well and accurately, and so will not honor refund requests from buyers who simply decide they don't like the way an item looks or fits or feels; the risk of being disappointed in that way is a chance all bidders take. I will however, consider refunds to any disappointed buyer who can demonstrate beyond question that I have misinformed her/him in my auction description.
