Amazing Spider-Man #1 - This is IT! The first ever issue of Spider-Man from 1962! This is the original issue - not any reprint or special Prince Variant, Golden Record, or Wizard Ace Edition. This is the first ever issue (outside of Amazing Fantasy #15) that introduces one of Marvel's icons, Spider-Man. Guest starring the Fantastic Four, and introducing The Chameleon, J. Jonah Jameson, Aunt May, etc.
I have brought this comic to several comic stores to get an accurate grading. As you can see from the pictures, the main problem is the cover, which is definitely showing some wear and tear - a one inch piece from the back is missing, multiple tiny tears on the edges, and the front cover has semi-detached itself from the lower staple (all of which can be restored). The rest is VERY good - the pages within are a light tan-to-yellow, the comic is extremely flat, and the colors are still pretty vibrant. This was rated by two different stores around CGC 2.0 to 2.2 (GOOD condition).
The mint condition issue of this comic is going for $270,000 right now. The condition this comic is in is actually worth about $2,200-$2,640. I'm offering the starting price of this at $1,000 - great deal considering this is the comic that started it all...the #1 ISSUE!!!
Since the price is so high, I will be requiring insurance on the shipping and handling ($10 for anything worth $1,000 - $2,000) - which will include sturdy and protective packaging. Also, pleas bid with the intention of buying this comic - it's been the centerpiece and heart of my collection for the last 30 years - very dear to me. The pictures show all the defects, so what you see is what you get. Great piece to add to any collection!
