Visit us on the web at: 2 of Amelia Earharts Personal Wilson/Macgregor Golf Clubs During the early 30's in California Babe was introduced to Amelia, they liked each others independent nature and immediately bonded and spent alot of time in each others company. Babe was introduced to golf by the likes of Sports Writer, Grantland Rice and his golfing buddies, Ring Lardner, Will Rogers, Westbrook Pegler and several others. She was a natural, "Granny" Rice wrote, "She was gifted with the most extraoadinary athletes body he had ever seen." During Babe's accelerated golf sessions, she offered to teach Amelia and in turn she would give Babe flying lessons. Many sporting goods companies were after Babe. Her biggest suitor was Goldsmith / MacGregor who supplied her with all kinds of equipment, even before she ever signed a contract. She gave Amelia some of her used clubs to start her off. Later on Babe met and played several exhibitions with Gene Sarazen who also gave her some "Wilson" Equipment. With some of these she updated Amelia's old set of Golfsmiths. In this sale we will be offering the few clubs from Goldsmith with bag and a few Gene Sarazen clubs from Wilson that were Babe's originally but ended up owned and played by Amelia Harhart. The Goldsmith set consists of: 2- 5 -7-8 putter irons, 2-3 woods, faith o'lite driver, Goldsmith bag. The Gene Sarazen Wilson "283" set consists of: 1-2-3 Wilson Gene Sarazen woods, 2-5-7-8-putter. The unknown maker leather bag is still in execellent condition and Amelia Earharts name still visable on the pocket of the bag. Leather head covers have her initials A.E. Faintly visible. The leather bag strap has been replaced. ***** We are asking many times if we have a C.O.A. . These items are not bought from a store to sell to you but from the actual Estate of the Zaharia's.. All the history of the items were passed on to me by either Babe or George themselves. We are the original source. We do forward a letter from myself on the Foundations letterhead stating the information of the item sold. This would be out C.O.A. to you. ***** Estimated Value: $1300.00-1500.00 _________________________________________________For the 1 st time The Babe & George Zaharias Golf Foundation, Inc . will be conducting a special offering of Personally owned unique historical collectibles form the Zaharias Estate . Most of these items have been for over a half century in our humidity controlled storage. Some of the items include Golf clubs, Bags, Balls, Autographed photos, Books, and other memorabilia. Also, other donated pieces over the years from famous Sports figures, Entertainers, Military and Political figures. All acquisitions will include provenances and any other points of interest. Monies, including donations, derived from individual auctions, with on going grants; enable this Foundation to be supportive in all its “Forgotten Youth” programs. We are presently negotiating to obtain a site, here in the Tampa Bay area, to construct a facility that will educate, encourage, and support all these children and teenagers.
