This is a stated first edition. The editors state, "This book is not a collection of tributes, it is not a symposium of opinions, it is not a compilation of facts about a man....This book is an attempt to express the nature of the career of Alred Stieglitz by being, itself, in spirit and form, a communal work, a work organic with its subject." Included are essays by William Carlos Williams, Paul Rosenfeld, Evelyn Howard, Waldo Frank, and others describing the modern art movement and Stieglitz's important part in it. 120 illustrations of modern art are featured. Because of their long association, this book will be interesting to those devotees of Georgia O'Keefe, as well. 339 pages. 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches. Literary guild edition. Dust jacket acceptable in rubbed and torn condition. The dust jacket has done its job to keep the black volume underneath in excellent shape. Binding is tight and square. Owner's name on inside end paper. Pages are clean, no marks, no tears, no foxing. Plates and white and clean...all present. Irreplaceable book for your art history collection.
