You are bidding on one stamp collection titled America’s First Ladies. This blue leatherette album, with pages measuring approximately 10 inches wide by 13 inches high, tells the story of America’s First Ladies as told through official United States postage stamps. From Martha Washington to Hillary Clinton, America’s First Ladies have played a vital and exciting part in United States history. As the hostesses of the nation, these notable women stood at center stage as the drama of America’s rise to greatness unfolded. Thus, their lives provide a unique perspective on the stirring events of America’s past and present. I have furnished pictures of the cover and a couple of the inner pages. Note: On each page there is only one unused stamp. The Presidential stamps through Pat Nixon and for the following First Ladies the first stamp listed below is cancelled with a dated postmark including City and State which has some significance to the First Family . The pages, each with a story and stamps are as follows: 1. Martha Washington, wife of George Washington. The stamp panel features the George Washington stamp from the 1986 President’s issue and the Martha Washington stamp of 1938. 2. Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams. The stamp panel features the John Adams stamp from the 19896 Presidents Issue, and the Abigail Adams stamp of 1985. 3. Martha Randolph, daughter of Thomas Jefferson. The stamp panel features the Thomas Jefferson from the 1986 President’s Issue and the Monticello stamp of 1956, in honor of Martha Randolph’s family home. 4. Dolley Madison, wife of James Madison. The stamp panel features the James Madison stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue and the Dolley Madison stamp of 1980. 5. Elizabeth Monroe, wife of James Monroe. The stamp panel features the James Monroe stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue and the French stamp of 1943, in honor of Elizabeth Monroe’s love for France. 6. Louisa Adams, wife of John Quincy Adams. The stamp panel features the John Quincy Adams stamp from the 196 Presidents Issue, and the Shakespeare stamp of 1964, in honor of Louise Adams’ White House theater parties. 7. Emily Donelson, President Andrew Jackson’s niece. The stamp panel features the Andrew Jackson stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue and the Tennessee stamp of 1946, honoring Emily Donelson’s love for her home state. 8. Angelica Van Buren, President Martin Van Buren’s Daughter-In-Law. The stamp panel features the Martin Van Buren stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, and the 1970 South Carolina stamp, in honor of Angelica Van Buren’s early life in this southern state. 9. Anna Harrison, wife of William Henry Harrison. The stamp panel features the William Henry Harrison stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue and the Indiana Statehood stamp of 1966, in honor of Anna Harrison’s life on the Indiana frontier. 10. Letitia Tyler, the first wife of President John Tyler. The stamp panel features the John Tyler stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, and the Mother’s of America stamp of 1934, in honor of Letitia Tyler’s role as a devoted mother. 11. Julia Tyler, the second wife of President John Tyler. The stamp panel features the John Tyler stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, as well as the United Confederate Veterans stamp of 1951, in honor of Julia Tyler’s support for the southern states. 12. Sarah Polk, wife of James Polk also served as his private secretary. The stamp panel features the James Polk stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, and the Smithsonian Institution stamp of 1946, in honor of Sarah Polk’s interest in intellectual achievement. 13. Margaret Taylor, wife of President Zachary Taylor. The stamp panel features the Zachary Taylor stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, and the Homemakers stamp of 1964, in honor of Margaret Taylor’s courage as a homemaker on the American frontier. 14. Abigail Fillmore, wife of Millard Fillmore. The stamp panel features the Millard Fillmore stamp from the 1986 Presidents Issue, as well as the 1984 A Nation Of Readers stamp, honoring Abigail Fillmore’s interest in literature. 15.
