A rare American 14 carat gold thimble, marked Stern Brothers, c.1900 Description: This thimble was made in the USA during the late 19th or early 20th century, c.1900. Struck on the inside (not visible on the picture, but definitely t is the maker's mark 'anchor' for Stern Brothers & Co, New York, used until 1908. This single anchor mark is flanked by the numeral '10' obviously a size indication It tests to be 14 K gold. It weighs 3,6 grams. It has a very nice design, showing elaborate chased and engraved foliage patterns, surrounding a blank vignette. This gold thimble is in excellent condition, without obvious traces of use, damages or repairs. The top has no holes. The thimble is 3/4 inch (19 mm) high. This rare thimble will make a wonderful addition to any thimble and needle ware collection. I guarantee age (c.1900) and authenticity (solid gold) of this interesting collector's item, originating from a Dutch private collection.
