This is a pen & ink by Mary Achey of American Indians, horses and a teepee village on the banks of the Missouri This is titled: "On the upper Missouri" Here is some biographical information on Mary Achey as borrowed from : Born in Ohio in 1832. Mary Michael married Philip Achey about 1852. As the wife of a cavalryman, she did pen-and-ink sketches of the Civil War camps in Colorado and Kansas. Her daughter died in 1867 and, holding her husband responsible, she left with her two sons. Traveling about the West, she lived in several places including Napa, CA in 1875, Oregon, and by 1880 she was homesteading near Aberdeen, WA where she lived until her death on Sept. 18, 1886.
