This is a wonderful needlework collectible, combining cross-stitch and applique. It is a fabulous American Eagle, worked on natural linen, with a navy blue "E Pluribus Unum" banner appliqued into the picture. The piece is dated 1963 on the back and signed in pencil is the name "Mary Ocet." The needlework and frame is in excellent condition, and exquisitely framed. The frame is a light-weight wood, in an oak color. T is a thin red band and a wider white band painted onto the inner area of the frame. The entire piece is framed under glass. The second picture shows the signature on the back and the third picture show some damage to the brown paper backing. The paper backing is coming loose in several places on the back, but I would assume this could be easily replaced. The piece has a wire hanger. The piece measures 20 inches long by 11 inches wide. It is in excellent condition, with just two little dents in the wood frame. The needlework is in excellent condition with no stains or fading. I purchased this from a junk shop in Florida many years ago when vacationing in Sarasota. It has been hanging in our smoke-free home for over 10 years. Our change in decor has necessitated we part with it, but what a wonderful addition to any American decor this would be! The framing alone would cost twice what this is priced!
