1950 American Flyer Whistle Control Box, Manufactured by A.C. Gilbert, New Haven, Ct. in Original Carton w/Instructions & #690 Track Terminal Clip. The Whistle Control Box is a one time owner, being myself, and is in good condition in appearance, it hasn't been used in a number of years but the last time used, it worked perfectly. The AC Cord has to be replaced on it because it became brittle and has lost some of its outer casing from being kept in a very dry climate. The carton is the Original Carton that it had been shipped in and the date received on the Label of the Carton is: 8/7/52 (Aug. 7, 1952) and the shipping destination was: Cramer's Studio, 19 N. Main St., Carbondale, Pa. The Postage out of New Haven Connecticut is dated Sept. 5, 1952 and the price was: 25 cents. I believe A. C. Gilbert designated the date received as the date they received the order. At that time it took almost a month for them to ship it, every order was custom and had to be separately manufactured at that time, They had no inventory on hand. Unlike other accessories, it was not powered by the transformer. It had its own 120 volt power cord. Vacuum tube electronics remotely generated the sound in the tender of the engine. The Original Instruction Sheet is included along with the # 690 Track Terminal Clip. Everything is complete with this item, the read more
