AMERICAN FLYER No. 283 ENGINE plus 5 FREIGHT CARS, Some Track and a Transformer This is a set of 5 AMERICAN FLYER Freight Cars, a Number 283 ENGINE & TENDER with it's Original Cardboard Wrapper, some pieces of Curved and Straight Track and a Number 1-1/2 AMERICAN FLYER Transformer. The Engine and Tender are in Excellent Condition and appear to have had very little use, when I put the engine on an electrified track the tender made a noise but the engine didnt move, I do see a loose wire in the engine's cab which I believe is not attached to the contact or post it is supposed to be attached to, the second wire in the engine's cab is attached. I am not a "train guy" and don't know how to repair them, is my suspicion the loose wire in the engine's cab is the problem here but cannot guarantee it. The 5 freight cars (Numbers 923, 925, 931, 938 and 942 have had quite a bit more use than the engine and I would call thier condition somewhat dirty, "Average/Played with" or about a "5", the 2 boxcars are a little better than the gondola, tanker and caboose and maybe a "6". The track is not in too good a shape but most of it can still be used, the transformer is powering up and I think is ok.
