AMERICAN FLYER Please Vintage American Flyer 314AW Locomotive Tender Controller Whistle Control Track & More. The last time the train set was set up and used was in 1995. It was in working condition and was fully serviced. It has not been tested since that time. Everything pictured is included. American Flyer produced by The A. C. Gilbert Co., New Haven, CONN., U.S.A. This model was the only American Flyer post-war locomotive with an operating air whistle in tender. This unit was produced from 1949-50. Similar to the Lionel whistle that had recently been introduced. Lionel sued American Flyer and this type of whistle was removed from American Flyer locomotives after two years of production.
