Up for bids is this AMERICAN FLYER set # 5510 which I recently acquired at an estate sale. It comes in the original master carton with a powered and unpowered A/B engines # 475 & 474. The engines have the original corrugated wraping. The engines are fair with lots of handling and track usage. The shells have scratches and some paint wear but all lettering is still readable. Roof horns are broken on the powered engine and has a missing front truck and about a 1 1/4 inch nose crack & indentation. I was told that they DO NOT run but as I have no way of testing them I can't be sure. Set is 3/16 scale by AC GILBERT.The four passenger cars also have lots of hand & track usage and the chrome paint that AF used has lots of wear and fading from over the years. the original boxes are included but missing 2 end flaps and a few interior flaps but in overall good shape. I have no way of testing the interior lighting and could guess they DON'T work. Wiring looks good and may only need replacement bulbs. Set also has an instruction book , a # 706 uncoupler , miscellaneous items and a transformer 50 watt # 1 1/2 with brittle wiring and may not work.The cars are :960 COLUMBUS PASSENGER/BAGGAGE CAR.
