Up for auction today is a large American Flyer train set which includes an engine, tender, seven cars, numerous accessories, track, switches and a transformer. The offering consists of the following items:A great looking American Flyer #322 New York Central Hudson style die cast locomotive and tender. The engine has been tuned up and the reverse unit has been serviced. The control fingers have been replaced and the engine changes direction smoothly without missing a shift. The engine has an operating headlight and a tender mounted smoke unit (S.I.T.) that produces volumes of smoke whether the engine is running on the mainline or stopped at the station (see pictures). The engine shows moderate playwear consistent with an item over sixty years old but there is no rust and all of the engine equipment is original. The cab numbers are aftermarket replacements. The engine and tender are equipped with the A.C. Gilbert link coupling system as are all of the cars in this offering. The tender is in good condition with all of the steps intact. The smoke unit has been rebuilt and the smoke wick has been replaced. All of the handrails are in place. The N.Y.C. logo is original and is light but readable. The engine and tender grade C-6. Three American Flyer extruded aluminum body passenger cars. There are two #662 Vista Dome cars and one #663 observation car. They all have passenger silhouette windows and illuminated interiors. They show moderate playwear but no damage and grade C-6. The American Flyer #633 Baltimore and Ohio boxcar. This car is clean with no rust, only minor playwear, and nice clear bright logos. It grades C-7 The American Flyer #623 Illinois Central refrigerator boxcar. This bright orange car is a super clean and rust free. It grades C-7. The American Flyer #640 American Flyer Lines gray plastic coal car. This car is complete with all four steps. It has minor surface rust on the wheel trucks and grades C-5. The American Flyer #630 Reading Lines illuminated caboose. This car shows some paint fading and grades C-5. The American Flyer #586F wayside station. This sheet metal and die cast station was sold by Gilbert from 1946 through 1956. It includes two figures and the original green cart with metal wheels. The station is illuminated and has been carefully repainted. Two #720A remote control switches with a two lever illuminated controller. The switches work great and are in like new condition. Three #705 remote control electric uncouplers and three control buttons. These are the 1946-1947 uncouplers that are permanently attached to a straight track section. They work great and are in good condition. Twenty pieces of American Flyer #700 straight track. It is in good used condition. Twelve pieces of American Flyer #702 curved track. It is in good used conditioin. One American Flyer #690 lockon One American flyer #730 illuminated bumper One American Flyer #8B transformer. The transformer is in used condition but works great and the circuit breaker functions as designed A Louis Marx #1350 metal truss bridge. This bridge is 24 inches long and has two Illinois Central signs on the top ends of the bridge. The bridge is very clean and in great condition. The American Flyer #769 aircraft beacon. This red and gray illuminated beacon has a bright red warning bulb on the top. The base has been repaired. Three used Plasticville buildings. The diner, school and supermarket are used and may be missing some parts. This is a great looking, great running complete American Flyer set that will enhance your existing Flyer collection or get you started on a completely new railroad.
