For sale are three sheets of 6 pieces each of curved fiber roadbed . Fiber roadbed was produced by the AC Gilbert Company for their American Flyer Trains in 1959, 1961 and 1962. This was an effort to provide a less expensive means to dampen the sound on train layouts. Fiber roadbed was cheaper than the rubber roadbed. The fiber roadbed was molded from gray composition material to resemble prototype roadbed. One section of regular S gauge four-tie track fits into the track recesses.
