Th engine ran quite well in a bench check, but it should be lubricated before any extended use. Both pick ups are in the tender. According to Doyle, this engine has smoke which I could not check, but no whistle. There is no unusual rectangular box installed above the center driver, similar to the one in the numbered 31006 I have in a concurrent auction. I suspect that this piece is a 31005 without the whistle. Check it out, all comments are welcome. I have no place to run H-O so all I can verify is that the motor runs quite well, even without being lubricated. The only real damage was where someone re-painted the tender, and the number under the cab window. I found no other chips, cracks, or large scratches, and the physical appearance of the rest of the 2 units meets the TCA/ebay definition of C-5 good.
