HELLO FOLKS! 'S A RARE ONE! FOUND IN A BATH, MAINE ESTATE ABOUT 10-15 YEARS AGO. THIS UNUSUALLY DECORATED FAT ~ GREASE LAMP, CA.1780-1820, MEASURES 6" x 2 3/8", BY 1 5/8" TO THE TOP OF ITS' FINGER-HOLE-HANDLE. ~(POSSIBLY NATIVE AMERICAN)~ WITH SAWTOOTH DESIGNS ON THE RIMS' BOWL & POUR SPOUT, AND WITH ENGRAVINGS OF SIX PINE CONES, (THREE ON EACH SIDE), MAKES FOR A WONDERFULLY FOLKY GREASE LAMP. THE MAKER, OBVIOUSLY QUITE SKILLED, CAREFULLY HAND CARVED THIS SMALL LAMP FROM STONE, POSSIBLY SOAP STONE, AND THEN DECORATED IT WITH FINELY ENGRAVED PINE CONES. IT'S CONDITION IS SUPERB. FOLKS, THIS IS AS GOOD AS THEY COME, AS YOU JUST DON'T FIND 'EM LIKE THIS!!! IF YOUR A COLLECTOR OF EARLY AMERICAN LIGHTING, THEN THIS WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT ADDITION TO THE BEST OF ANY COLLECTION!!!
