fitted 3 x 7.75` rosewood case with push button clasp and red velvet lining, made for two razors. Includes an ivory-handled example with acid etched blade reading on left face Presented to Henry Clay of Kentucky/by Mr. B. Johnson of Ware, Mass with floral scrolls at ends, and on right Protection of American Industry and marked on ricasso Manufactured By/Henry Harrington/Southbridge Mass., 6.5` closed and 10.5` open, PLUS second razor, not original to case with black horn handle marked Brunswick Razor. We were unable to find any biographical information for Johnson, and assume only that he was an admirer and supporter of Clay in attempts to protect American business through his support of protective tarrifs.
