Recently I found some great vintage collectible books at several local estate sales. Up for this auction is "The American Postcard Guide to Tuck" by Sally S. Carver. This is a First edition which was published in 1980 as a Third Printing with completely revised prices. Tuck postcards have always been regarded as some of the best art with a great variety of subjects. This is a sturdy soft cover book with 76 pages, which measures10 3/4" x 8 1/2". The Table of Contents includes: Introduction by author, History of the Company and Glossary of Tuck's Printing Processes, followed by these CATEGORIES: -- Animals, Insects, Birds and Fish -- Animals-2 -- Artists - American -- Artists - Foreign -- Aviation -- Blacks-American -- Children -- Comics -- Early Tucks -- Expositions, Fairs and Pageants -- GREETING CARDS: Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Used as Topicals -- Indians and the Old West -- Literary Men and Scenes -- Military & Patriotics -- Novelties -- Royalty -- Santa Claus -- SETS -- Topicals -- VIEWS: American, New York, Foreign Oilettes -- Women and Art Nouveau The books ends with a section for Identifying the backs of Tuck's Cards and an Index.
