mid-19th c., attributed to J. & J.W. Meeks, New York, in the pattern known as "Stanton Hall", comprised of a settee, a pair of armchairs and four side chairs, settee length 65 in.
Provenance: By family repute, purchased directly from J. & J.W. Meeks by Moses Christy, by descent to the present owners. Mr. Christy was the proprietor of J and M Confectionery, which New York City Directories show at various locations including 380 Pearl St., 120 Prince St. and 222 Church St., from 1852 through 1884.
