NATURAL PAYSON ARIZONA AMETHYST SCEPTER CRYSTAL Size: 1 3/8" tall and 5/8" x 5/8" thick (35 x 15 x 15 mm) Location: FatJack Mine, Yavapi County, Arizona. Play of color: Purple amethyst color, clear, and smoky. The FatJack Mine. A historic piece of Arizona. One of the most amazing locations on earth when it comes to collecting scepter shaped quartz crystals. I happen to love scepters for the simple reason that there is so much diversity in this crystal habit. Although quite rare, scepters are so totally cool, that you can never quite forget one when you see one. That goes for reverse septers as well. Even perpendicular scepters. Or immature scepters, or multi-colored scepters. Oh! The list can go on and on. If you want a good read, google "FatJack Mine, Arizona". Hard to believe this fantastic location was a gold mine with a cast of charachters you would have trouble finding in a book. Truth is stranger than fiction. This scepter shows smoky colored exterior zoning graduating to purple, getting more saturated with purple, at the tip. The center of the crystal has optically clear, graduating to milky white alumina with a milky staff. There is nice etching, and keying around the circumference. Natural mirror polish crystal faces. These were gotten from the owner of the mine a decade or two ago. They were all high-graded. Every specimen shows another scepter, and another "WOW" factor. Scepters are best for fashioning superb centerpieces. Many show ghost phantoms as well as fluid. Better known as Enhydros. Many times a scepter will contain many different crystal habits as the formation was complex. At any rate I hope you enjoy this one.
